Reves How-To Video: Welt Detail

This week we bring you a new tutorial video that demonstrates a welt detail used in Revés from Booklet #290 Vintage: Arts and Crafts as well as this week's free pattern, Gainsbourg Tee. It is similar to the dimensional details used in Tuck and Napoleon. For Revés NapoleonTuckand Gainsbourg Tee you work the upper bodice then pick up stitches to work the welt, then the rest of the sweater downward from there. This unusual construction is fun, but it also serves a functional purpose. When you knit a garment from the top-down, you're able to easily personalize the length of the sweater, binding off when it is as long as you'd like it to be. If you purchased extra yarn and slowly increased your needle size, you could even turn the Gainsbourg Tee into a sundress! Watch our tutorial video to see how easy our welt detail really is, and pick up some new skills by watching all of our tutorial videos.

Free PatternsGainsbourg Tee is designed with a plain upper bodice and a lower bodice dappled with lace and low profile knot stitches. A welt separates the two sections and a keyhole detail finishes the elbow length sleeves.
