Last week we introduced Booklet #293 Vintage™ Family, a collection of sweaters for everyone in the family. Vintage™ was the perfect match for these garments since they’re meant to be the sort of sweaters you want to wear everyday. Vintage is strong, soft and machine washable, perfect for a favorite sweater.

I used zippers in Lakenvelder and Sebright for a casual but polished look and set-in sleeves for sweaters like Australorp and Serama for the same reason; they’re comfortable

and neat looking, great benefits when you’re knitting basics. These two design features tend to trip up knitters who fear that the finishing will be too daunting. I promise you, I’ve had the same fears, but lots of practice and advice has eliminated my worries. I’ve made two videos this week, Seaming a Set-in Sleeve and Installing a Zipper that I hope will help you banish finishing fears.

Free PatternsSilverman is a quirky blazer knit in Lustra™. It uses a fun two-color stitch and is finished with seed stitch accents. A double-breasted front closes at the waist for a flattering and fun silhouette. Pick two colors of Lustra and cast on!
