I first heard the term "workhorse yarn" years ago while working in a yarn shop in my hometown. I started to picture scratchy gray yarn spun from horse hair, but I soon realized that this phrase was describing certain characteristics of a yarn, not the fiber source. It should be multi-seasonal, versatile and easy to care for, with excellent yardage and a reasonable price. Berroco Comfort® and Vintage™ both easily fit into this category, and their softness and beautiful colors set these yarns apart from the rest of the workhorse crowd. To design Booklet #313 Berroco Comfort & Vintage, Cirilia and guest designer Cheryl Burke pulled together a bright, modern palette from the extensive color range. Classic sweater silhouettes for children and adults are updated with colorful stripes, contrasting hems, and even some fun embroidery.
