Delightful Decreases

Decrease, Part 1 - Video Route 1, Free Pattern

The primary purpose of a decrease in knitting is to reduce the number of stitches, but it can also serve as a decorative element. There are quite a few different decrease stitches, and each one has its own distinctive appearance. By working different decrease types on either side of a garment or stitch pattern, you can create a polished, symmetrical look. For a demonstration on some of the most commonly used decreases in our patterns, watch our new how-to video, and be sure to check out our how-to video library to see more.
