Most knitters know that it’s important to knit a gauge swatch before starting a big project, but do you ever stop to double check your gauge on the actual piece? This trick has helped me avoid potentially disastrous consequences in my knitting! Even the most experienced knitter may discover that his or her gauge has changed since working the original swatch. Mood, time of day, or increasing familiarity with the stitch pattern can all contribute to fluctuations in gauge.
