I was so excited to learn this week's new technique, a lateral braid made by knitting with two colors to form a beautiful twisted edge on the surface of your fabric. Traditionally from northern Europe, I’ve seen this beautiful detail in the past on mittens and it has always caught my eye. Alison used it in this week’s free pattern, Barnum, a colorwork tam that’s knit in the round from the bottom up. Want to see how it is done? Follow along with my how-to video. But I should warn you, it’s pretty addictive. I want to add these braids to everything!
