Today's free pattern Lilla is a versatile worsted weight shawl worked from the top down in stockinette stitch with a knitted-on lace edging. A knitted-on edging works as both an edging and a bind off. We love this technique for creating a stretchable decorative bind off on patterns like Oleander, Anastasia, and Lucerne. To begin the bind off, you will cast on the stitches for the edging onto a double-pointed needle. Work the first RS row, stopping one stitch before the end of the row, then decrease the two stitches together. Describing the technique in words is tricky.
