Berroco Portfolio Volume 3 is here
01/31/2017                       #694

If you love warm-weather projects, you'll love Portfolio Volume 3.

For the first time, we've created a Berroco Portfolio collection centered on warmer weather. Portfolio Vol 3 features 14 patterns designed using Berroco Modern Cotton™ and the new Berroco Modern Cotton™ DK—the same blend of 60% Pima cotton and 40% Modal rayon that you love in the worsted weight Modern Cotton, now in a lighter version.

As with Portfolio Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, we've invited a group of today's top talent from the independent designer world to create exclusive patterns using Berroco yarns. The designers in this volume include returning favorites Bristol Ivy, Ellen Mason, and Emily Nora O'Neil. New to the Portfolio family are Véronik Avery, Hilary Smith Callis, Kirsten Kapur, Ann Weaver, and Alexis Winslow. We're overjoyed to work with Norah Gaughan again, and Alison Green, Donna Yacino, and Amy Palmer from the Berroco Design Team round out the collection.
The pieces in Portfolio Vol. 3 show the wide range of designing talent, as well as the many ways in which Berroco Modern Cotton and Modern Cotton DK can be used. The Landscape Pullover, Baltica Cardigan, and Leisl Pullover demonstrate how wonderful this yarn can be for stitch definition. If you like bold colors, the Color Field Wrap and Rodinia Shawl provide endless opportunities for color customization. For you crocheters, the Caverly Shawl and Malaga Tank (featuring a beautiful crochet edge on a simple stockinette stitch tank) give you an excuse to try out this yarn. And of course, thinking of summer puts many of us in a mood for open, airy projects—the Anniu Top, Triteia Cowl, Delphin Shawl, Vinalhaven Wrap, Sweetgrass Shrug, Island Wrap, and Marca Ruana are all great offerings.

This week's free pattern, East Brewster, uses two shades of Berroco Modern Cotton to create a wrap with stripes and a little bit of lace at the edges. The shawl begins with the borders; stitches are picked up along one border edge to knit the body of the shawl, and then the live stitches are grafted to the other border edge to finish.
