Our favorite recycled yarn in a new lighter weight
04/25/2017                       #706
Our 100% recycled, non-wool yarn, Berroco Remix®, just got a little lift.

The same worsted-weight yarn you love is now available in a DK-weight version, called Berroco Remix® Light! And because we're so excited about it, we're using this yarn for our spring/summer knit-along!

We're calling this an open-project knit-along, in that you can choose any project that you want to join in—the only thing we ask is that you use Berroco Remix Light to join in the discussion!

If you're more inclined to join in with a specific project, however, Alison and I will be knitting the Derecho tee (more info below), so you can knit with us! But if you're not feeling like knitting a tee, you can use any pattern you like.

The knit-along (KAL) begins May 15 and ends July 15, so you've got plenty of time to work on bigger projects. For more information, head to our blog!

Derecho is one of the most popular patterns from this season and it's easy to see why. Knit in the round from the top down, this easy seamless tee features a garter ridge and eyelet pattern at the yoke before flowing down into the stockinette stitch body. Thanks to the incredible yardage of Berroco Remix Light, you can knit this tee with just 2–4 balls of color 6993 Pepper.
Just like Derecho, you can knit Khamaseen without breaking the bank. This flowing, oversized tee is worked using only 2–4 balls of color 6901 Birch. Knit in pieces with an allover lace pattern stitch, this tee features a deep scoop neck and garter-stitch edges.
Levante is a crescent shawl knit with just two balls of Remix Light. Knit from side-to-side, this shawl uses increases, decreases, and short-rows for the gentle curve, and the lace edging is knit as you work the shawl.
Remix Light is also an ideal yarn for textured stitches, as shown in the allover texture pattern for Sirocco. This ruana is knit from the bottom back up, and then split for the neckline before knitting each front.
This classic cardigan is sure to be a wardrobe staple! Ponente is knit in pieces and seamed, and the body is worked in an easy-to-remember lace stitch pattern.
Finally, Oroshi is a top-down triangular shawl knit in a traditional lace pattern. Two balls of color 6991 Juniper are all you need to knit this gorgeous shawl.

Forsythia is this week's free KnitBits pattern, and it's a gorgeous shawl designed with just four balls of Berroco Remix Light in color 6922 Buttercup. This oversized shawl measures approximately 92" across the top (after blocking) features a bobble-like cluster stitch that's worked in the main body of the fabric as well as the center-stitch column.
