Want a quick way to use up scraps from your yarn stash? Try a simple weaving project!
Lately we've become a little obsessed with playing on pin looms. It all started when Amy Christoffers broke out her vintage Weave-It loom and started experimenting with different Berroco yarns in this simple loom.
Each of these swatches used minimal yarn, but they look so happy and festive! Amy wrote a series of blog posts talking about weaving on the pin loom, including how to get started weaving on the pin loom, and some ideas of projects to make with the squares.
Berroco has a long history with the great people at Schacht Spindle Company. Way back when, Berroco distributed weaving yarns before merging into the handknitting world, and today our yarns are still great for weaving projects. You can whip them up on a small pin loom, as Angela did for her Pin-Loom Clutch project, or use them on a rigid heddle loom. Want to give quick weaving on little looms a try? We've got a prize package for one lucky winner! You could win one copy of Easy Weaving with Little Looms, one Schacht Zoom Loom, enough Berroco Cotolana to make the Pin-Loom Clutch, and a Berroco project bag—just head to this blog post to enter!
Stephanie Flynn Sokolov designed a gorgeous shawl using four shades of Berroco Briza. Stephanie designed this project to be woven on a 15" Cricket Loom from Schacht—a small, portable loom that makes beautiful woven fabric and can be easily stored away when not in use. The Lassie Shawl is available as a free weaving pattern from Berroco and Schacht.
We also have a free knitting pattern this week! Dowson is a V-shaped shawl with a simple lace repeat. The shaping of the "wings" ensures that this shawl doesn't slip off your shoulders. Choose any of the 27 shades of Berroco Folio to knit this easy, lightweight summer shawl.
