I recently became an aunt to a pretty sweet little man, which put me in the mind of baby knits.
So of course, I started knitting tiny little projects for the new addition to our family. My sister-in-law is also a knitter, so I took a chance and used a hand wash–only wool for a little cardigan. And it was so cute!
And then my brother, in a misguided attempt at helping, washed it in the machine and felted it. Obviously, I had no one to blame but myself, but this episode reminded me that it's always great to choose machine-washable yarns for baby projects, even if you know the person who will most likely be washing the garments will take care of a hand wash-only project.
Thankfully we've got quite a few machine-washable yarns at Berroco, including Berroco Comfort®! This blend of acrylic and nylon is great for baby gifts—there's nothing remotely scratchy to affect a baby's delicate skin, and it comes in so many colors. We've got four new patterns for wee future-crafters showing off some of the new colors of Berroco Comfort (oh, and my nephew is modeling this week's free pattern, as I did learn my lesson about non-washable yarns).
This week's free pattern is a simple little baby vest. Landon is a nearly seamless topper that's knit in one piece from the bottom up. Easy increasing and decreasing creates a biased body that's worked entirely in garter stitch. Choose one of the new shades of Berroco Comfort or even try Berroco Comfort Print for a fun variegated effect.
Are you making projects for any wee ones in your life? If you're using Berroco yarns, be sure to show them off on Instagram (or upload a photo to our website)—you could win Berroco prizes during our #LoveBerroco promotion.
