Top-down projects to make
12/11/2018                        #791
When it comes to making projects, there are two ways about it.

Well, technically, there's more than two ways, but most projects fall into two camps—top down or bottom up. These phrases describe the direction of progression—if you're knitting a bottom up sweater, for example, you'll start at the bottom hem. If you're crocheting a top down hat, you'll start that the crown and work your way down. If you're making socks, "top down" refers to socks that begin at the cuffs, and "toe up" indicates that construction of the socks begins at the toes. This week's free pattern, Camille, is a gorgeous cable and lace hat knit with Berroco Skye™, and is knit from the top down, so I thought I'd wrangle up some other popular top-down patterns from this year.

Camille is a top-down hat knit with just one ball of Berroco Skye. A cable and lace pattern, worked from a chart, begins at the crown and works down to the edge. The small rope cables continue seamlessly into the edging for a sophisticated look.

Happy knitting,
