Once upon a time...
...a yarn enthusiast came across three yarns. Each yarn was made up of the same 50% wool, 50% acrylic fibers, and featured dazzling colors that blended together in a unique double-print effect. The only difference? The yarns were three different weights!
Berroco Millefiori® was the first—a worsted-weight yarn, with 186 yards to 100 grams, introduced in the fall of 2016. Millefiori means “a thousand flowers” in Italian, and we chose this name because of the gorgeous colors of the yarn. Originally launched with 8 shades, we currently have 13 colors available, including 7896 Dahlia shown here.

You might remember a little shawl pattern called Kveta? This simple garter stitch shawl was one of the most popular patterns from our first Millefiori collection, #377 Berroco Millefiori. The fringe along the long edge of this shawl is worked as you knit, so the finishing is very easy!
Next, there was Berroco Millefiori BIG. Same fibers and colors as Millefiori, just in a super bulky put up with 93 yards in each 100 gram ball. The photo below shows the same color, Dahlia, beefed up in Millefiori BIG (it's color number 5896).

Booklet #392 Berroco Millefiori BIG and Millefiori featured patterns in both yarns, including Biyu, a sweet poncho knit with Millefiori BIG.
And then there was the baby, Berroco Millefiori Light. Once again the combination of 50% acrylic and 50% wool are blended into a single ply yarn, but this time with a whopping 350 yards to each 100 gram ball for a slimmer sport-weight yarn.
Millefiori Light has its own book of patterns, #393 Berroco Millefiori Light, which includes Broderie, shown above.

This week's free pattern, Carol, uses the worsted weight Berroco Millefiori and a modular construction to make a beautiful shawl. Try knitting this with Millefiori BIG for a much larger wrap, or working more shells with Millefiori Light for a different look.

Happy knitting,
