Get to know Amy Christoffers!

I've been friends with Amy Christoffers for years, even before we both worked for Berroco. Amy's an incredible designer, effortlessly blending aesthetics and ease into designs that are incredibly wearable. Before joining the Berroco design team as the Design Director, Amy built an immense library of wonderful knitting patterns under her Savory Knitting brand, many of them designed for Berroco yarns. One of my favorite patterns of Amy's is her Larch cardigan, designed for Berroco Ultra® Alpaca Light. On the left is Amy modeling her Larch sample, and on the right is me (also Amy, not at all confusing) wearing my own Larch after I had finished it. Seven years after knitting it, this cardigan is still one of my go-to handknits and gets a lot of wear.
In the five years that Amy has been the Design Director, she's designed more than 250 patterns for Berroco—many of which are available from our website, while others were designed for other publications, including Knitty (including her new pattern, Ascutney). She also oversaw all of the volumes of the Berroco Portfolio project, working with independent designers to celebrate classic Berroco yarns. As the Design Director, she plans all of our design collections, from creating mood boards for pattern inspiration to brainstorming and directing the photo shoots, and weighs in heavily on which new yarns we'll carry each season.
Amy is a powerhouse designer who can do anything—cables, colorwork, lace, and interesting basics, as demonstrated in Fidelia, Purga, Meryton, and Odele, some of the most popular of Amy's patterns for Berroco.
Did you know you can search our pattern database by designer? So if you wanted to see more Berroco patterns that Amy has designed, you could go down to the filter for designers and click on "Amy Christoffers".
Amy designed this week's free pattern—Draw is an ultra cozy open-front cardigan knit with Berroco Ultra Alpaca. Draw is a top-down seamless design featuring a knit-purl textured pattern worked into the oversized shawl collar.

Have you made any of Amy's patterns? Let us know! You can email us or use Twitter or Facebook to share with us your experience of making one of Amy's creations! (She also designed Sous-Sous, shown below!)

Happy crafting,
