It's that time of the yearYipes, is it already time to think about Christmas? I remember my days as fashion editor of McCall's Needlework and Crafts Magazine back in the '80s. It was Christmas from July through December. So, on that note, our design team decided to get a head-start by offering you a free knitted stocking pattern Lattice in Comfort™ and Plush™. The pattern stitch is a 2 color lattice stitch that creates dimensional color contrast. It is knit in the round with a traditional turned heel and shaped toe in stockinette. Its Plush cuff is trimmed and embroidered with contrasting shades of Comfort. A twisted, tasseled hanging loop is created from all of the shades of Comfort used. Looking back over holiday KnitBits from past years, it occurred to me that you might like to revisit past projects for gift and decorating ideas, such as our Sean, John and Colleen Stockings knit in Ultra®Alpaca, Ornaments, Snowflake and Winter Wonderland Centerpiece. So, why not get an early start knitting for those on your gift list? Harlene from cyberspace wrote: "I have and love the Yin & Yang, Booklet #262 and was happy to see Montparnasse this week. I have always liked deconstructed jackets and being able to knit them is wonderful. BUT, I am at a time in life when wearing anything inside that is made of wool just is not going to happen. What else can I make it out of that will have the right amount of drape? Can I substitute Love It™ as in the Yin & Yang booklet?" Good question, Harlene. Yes, I recommend that you substitute Love It™ or for a more wintery look you might prefer Comfort™. Either one would be an excellent choice. All the best,
