The newest edition to our series of designer books, norah gaughan volume 3 features sweaters and accessories from two points of view. In today's Knitbits I focus on the first chapter, "Woodland Gothic", eight knitted pieces inspired by gothic architecture, enhanced by a mystical forest setting.
Three of our new Fall '08 yarns are featured; Berroco Inca® Gold™, Palace®™ and Pure® Merino DK. Norah chose these three yarns for their impeccable stitch definition and their luxurious hand and drape. Silk and merino yarns are pure ecstasy, and the panache of Lumina™ was chosen to add fantasy.
Berroco Inca® Gold is luxurious blend of merino wool and silk at an honest price. The multi-plied and refined twist creates a classic yarn of quality that will withstand the test of time. It's available in 14 colors.
Palace® is a luxurious, 50/50 blend of merino wool and silk that speaks softly of the elite pleasures of knitting the finest fibers. Available in 12 colors.
Pure Merino DK is a new member of our Pure® Merino family of yarns with 19 of our most popular colors. You might also enjoy our companion palettes in Pure® Merino, Pure®Merino Heather and Pure®Merino Nuance.
For this half of the book, Norah was inspired by gothic architecture and its relationship to structure, surface patterning and natural forms. We chose to shoot this story in a magical spot in the woods of southern Rhode Island. Eleanor channeled the spirits of woodland nymphs as she modeled Norah's designs. Let us take you on a tour of these lovely pieces through the designer's eyes.
Take a few minutes to listen to our audio slideshow and get inside Norah's mind. While you are enjoying our tour, see if you can find the answer to the question in this week's Pop Quiz. If you answer correctly you may qualify for a drawing to receive a signed copy of norah gaughan, volume 3.
