Texture is also important to this story and Norah chose a selection of yarns known for their subdued shine - Mica™, Lumina™ and Seduce®. These special fibers are what Norah calls "shine for the person who doesn't like shiny yarns". These fibers won't make you feel like a Las Vegas showgirl...they're more like shimmering mermaid scales. Whether you like to dress up or dress down on hot summer days, the Excess collection has you covered. Flutter and Pucker are essentially glammed up tees, one with a flounce and one with a gathered neckline. Both flatter and add interest. Pushing the textural envelope even further are Tuck and Fold. Tuck is a vest sculpted with tuck stitches while Fold is an artfully draped tank that looks puzzling but isn't! All will bring a touch of artistry to your summer wardrobe. Be sure to watch the audio slideshow to hear our thoughts on the design process, photo shoots and garment details and to see alternate views of every garment. Catch up on our entire season here.
This utilitarian office accessory, Lobster, started out as a swatch. The original Lobster was a swatch knit in Mica™ and it eventually turned into a vest, Tuck from Norah Gaughan vol. 4. We're big on repurposing here so Norah simply tacked it to her bulletin board and used it to hold her bamboo knitting needles. This version is knit in Berroco Jasper® and felted for a beautifully striped shibori-like needle holder.
Happy knitting,
