Seven reasons to crochet for Spring/Summer
#260 Crochet.2 is a collection of 7 crocheted items including sweaters and accessories, ranging in skill level from easy to intermediate. Cerise, on the cover, is a scarf and/or a necklace that is crocheted in Boho in shade #9203 City Lights. If you make 5 flowers, join them and fasten at the back neck with a button, you'll have a lovely lace neckpiece and if you join 15 flowers, a long ruffled lace scarf. Cameron is a tank top with an easy open mesh yoke and hem that looks great layered over a tee shirt. It's crocheted in Cotton Twist™. Curtis is a romantic cardigan that fastens at the deep u-neck with a single hook and eye. The elegant lace pattern is the perfect cover-up for bare shoulders on a hot summer evening. It's crocheted in Touche™. Carole is a sporty pullover with elbow length sleeves and a slit neck opening. Crocheted in blue Boho #9212 Kerouac Blue, we see it with Capri pants or jeans rolled up on a leisure weekend at the beach. Bronx is a handbag, adorned with 80 bobbles. Crocheted in Bonsai™ with a bamboo handle, it has a summery ease of a straw bag plus the softness and luster of a bamboo ribbon. Carmine is a swingy sleeveless shrug crocheted in Bonsai. Cha Cha is a circle with slits for holes, crocheted in Boho Colors #9314 Newsprint. This spectacular sleeveless shrug looks perfect over all your favorite black underpinnings.
"Before I begin my project, I always wash my gauge swatch according to the care instructions on the ball of yarn. I then measure my gauge over the pattern stitch or stitches, so that I can be sure that even after washing or blocking, my garment will fit properly. It is interesting that sometimes the ribbing relaxes when washed or the cable flattens and becomes wider when steamed, affecting the stitch and row gauge. I put a paper tag on my swatch and I jot down any notes about how I washed it, yarn used and the needle size. I keep this with any other notes on the project in a knitting journal for future reference." Stephanie, thanks for the tips. I am sure that our readers will appreciate your suggestions. All the best,
